Examine your breast in th
Mirror. Has there been any change in size? Has
one become lower than the other? Has one nipple
become turned in? Any sign of discharge? Is
there any puckering, dimpling or change in skin
texture?

|
2
Raise hands above head and
examine breast leading to armpit. Any swelling
or skin puckering? Lower and raise your arms
while watching your nipples. Do they move the
same distance?
|
|
3
Lean forward and examine
each breast for change outline, puckering,
dimpling of the skin or retractions of the
nipple. Now lie down in a relaxed
position.

4
Start with the left
breast. Use the flat of your hand, keep your
fingers straight and close together. Don't press
too hard or too lightly. With a little practice
you'll get it right. Never pinch the
breast.

|
5
Slide your hand over the
breast above the nipple starting at the armpit,
moving inwards. Feel for lumps. Repeat moving
your hand across the nipple till you've felt all
parts of the breast.
|
|
6
Feel for lumps along top
of collarbone and in armpit. Repeat whole
examination on right breast. If you detect
anything, consult your doctor. But please
remember - only 1 in every 10 lumps found in the
breast is a cancer.
