Training
and Services
FPA is currently participating
in a three year Operations Research Project along with
the Associations in St Lucia and Guyana. The goal of
this project is to test the efficacy of a peer helper
training model which includes a supportive network of
parents and teachers designed to reinforce healthy
behaviour and attitudes in young people. Fifty-three
(53) peer helpers between the ages of 13 - 17 from
Naparima Girls' High School, Tabaquite Composite and
Success Laventille have been trained.
This is the first time that the
FPA has had the opportunity to scientifically test the
effectiveness of comprehensive peer helper training
model. The Association intends to implement this model
in all future peer helper training
programmes.
